Cute shoes!

For Christmas this year we got quite a few things for our baby girl. While we were in Las Vegas we went to the Nike store- a few times- and we just couldn't resist getting these for her. Yep..still no name yet. It is a hard decision that everyone has an opinion on.

Merry Christmas!!

We are in Mesquite this year spending Christmas with my Dad, Deb, my sister Krista and her family. It has been a fun time. We went to Las Vegas yesterday and did some shopping, the mall wasn't even that crowded. We are going to go again tomorrow...and check out the outlets! We are grateful for all of our family and friends this year and look forward to the New Year, and new events happening in our lives. Have a Merry Christmas!

Christmas break begins today. The kids are out of school until the new year, so I have 2 weeks off of work! The kids are always so excited this time of year..I had to make a few trips to my car to put all of my presents from them in there. Don't know what I will do with my time..we are done shopping besides a few minor things I need for Jared's stocking. We have a few family parties coming up, which should be fun. Next Wednesday we are going to Mesquite to have Christmas with my Dad, his wife and my sister's family who are coming from Vegas. I am excited to see all of them, and hopefully find some warmer weather!
On another note I felt the baby really moving around for the first time last night. I was watching my stomach and it was fun to see her pushing against me. I am still amazed that she is growing inside of me. What a amazing thing! We are still trying to think of a name for her. We went through a baby name book and narrowed it down to a list, I am sure we will think of something!

20 week ultrasound
It is just amazing to me how they can see a baby inside of you. I just sat in wonder as the tech would point things out to us about the baby- her heart and how it had four chambers, her liver, her eye sockets..it was just neat. It makes me so grateful for the life that is coming into our world!

Update!

We caught the mouse! Jared bought some little houses that they walk into and we put one in the pantry, it walks in and can't walk out. We found it this morning and then Jared took it out back, made sure the mouse was in it, made sure it was dead with a screwdriver and then burned it in our firepit...He wanted to send a message to all the other mice out there! AT least we know it is dead!

Mighty Mouse!

We have a mouse in our house. Jared first saw it on Saturday night, he thought it ran into the hall closet but couldn't find it. We then saw it again last night in our PANTRY! Jared opened the pantry door to get something out and it was sitting on top of a box of crackers. He got it out of the pantry after he had every possible escape route blocked and it still got away through our vents. So we set some traps with the hopes of catching it in the middle of the night. At around 3:30 am the trap went off and we both woke up and were excited BUT there was no mouse there when Jared went to check. SO today after work I cleaned out our pantry- threw some stuff away and Jared is going to stop and get more traps on his way home from work..sticky ones, a house they run into and decon. Cross your fingers that we can catch this sneaky little thing!

Black Friday!!

Not breaking tradition we got up and went shopping on Black Friday! It was insane at Walmart, we went in, couldn't find anything we wanted and walked out. I went with Polly- Jared's Mom- into American Fork and Jared went to many stores alone. Polly and I went to Target and stood in line FOREVER- so long that I got really hot, light headed and thought I was going to pass out. I sat down in the middle of the isle- and Polly left to get me a bottle of water. It was not pretty I am sure but I felt better after awhile. As we were waiting in line Jared went to Bed, Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, Kohl's & Best Buy. When we got done in the Target we met before Jared had to go to work at for breakfast at McDonalds--we only had about 15 minutes to eat! Then Polly and ventured over to Walgreen's....we wanted to go to Costco but it was only 8:15 and we didn't want to wait in the parking lot for 45 minutes so we called it a morning. I went home, wrapped the gifts and took a NAP! It was a fun morning!

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Almost to 18 weeks..that will be tomorrow! I am stressing a little bit because I haven't gained any weight, in fact I have lost weight. Jared tells me not to worry- it will all happen at the end. I am just afraid of what the Doctor will say. I go back in 2 weeks and then we will be able to find out what we are having..so excited about that! Everyone says it is a boy so my guess is a girl, I have told Jared all of these things that people say to tell you what you are having like pee on draino and swing your ring over your belly..he just laughs and says we can wait until the ultrasound.

On another note, Thanksgiving is in 2 days! I can't believe how fast this year has gone. The kids at school had a Thanksgiving feast today and now we are off until Monday...it is a much needed break! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Sunday, November 15, 2009

We got home from having dinner at Jared's parents house tonight to find a turkey, potatoes and apples on our doorstep. I know that someone was thinking of us and wanted us to have a good Thanksgiving, I am just very grateful for them thinking of us. What a great person that is. I know that the Lord is aware of us too. So THANK YOU to whoever it was!

Busy!

I had a busy weekend. I had a work conference in Ogden on Friday night and Saturday morning/afternoon. I left from work on Friday afternoon to drive to Ogden, we checked into the hotel (my roommate ended up not being able to make it so I had a room to myself), went over to the conference for one class and then to dinner at Igggy's.
Saturday morning we got up bright and early - 6:45 a.m- to make it to the conference in time for breakfast and the 8:00 a.m. start. We had classes that went for 1 1/2 hours..now they were good but it was so LONG to sit! We had a few classes...lunch..then another class. I had to leave before the last class to make it to my brother's surprise 30th Birthday party in Bountiful. It was fun to hang out with him and some of his friends..they had really good food their too. My Mom made red Velvet cake- my favorite!
We also went to the Jazz game last night. Last year Kyle Korver did a coat drive for underprivileged kids in the area and afterward he had an autograph session where he would sign one thing for you. We decided this year that we wanted to participate. Jared's parents also went with us- Jared's Mom found some cute kids coats at Ross.
So we watched the game- which they lost- and then waited for the autograph session. I got to have a card signed by Kyle Korver- Jared took a picture. Jared thinks I went to the game just because of that--I have to admit I do think Kyle is pretty cute!

Big News!!!

Yes that is me..and yes you read it right! We are having a BABY!!!This week I will be 15 weeks, which makes me due the end of April. I went to my 2nd Dr. visit today and everything is going fine...we were able to hear the heartbeat and all is good. As you can imagine everyone in our family is very excited, and we are too. It just doesn't seem real to us yet but after hearing the heartbeat it became a little bit more of reality.

5 year Anniversary!

Today is our 5 year Anniversary! We had big plans to go here for the night. This is Jared's Mom & Dad's timeshare in Midway.

Unfortuantely Jared came home sick yesterday from work and we had to stay home. Which is probably a good thing because I ended up catching it and getting sick in the middle of the night- I was even sleeping in the other bedroom! What a way to spend our day! At least we were together- laying on our couches watching tv. This weekend after we feel better we will go to dinner or something special. Oh well- I still love you Jared- even if we are home sick!

FALL BREAK!! That means 4 days off for me! What to do? I wish I was going to Vegas to see my sister and her family but my cousin Mika is getting married so I have to stick around. Sleep sounds like a great option-oh and possibly cleaning the bathrooms. I am sure I will go to lunch with Jared on Thursday and Friday too..should be great!

Stuffed Mushrooms

Jared's Aunt Donna called and wanted the recipe for my stuffed mushrooms-well really my Mom's recipe. That made me want to make some for us. They are so good!

Stuffed Mushrooms
1 lb. sausage -I usually use Jimmy Dean, as spicy as you like.
2 lb. mushrooms- wash and remove the top
8 oz. cream cheese

Brown sausage and drain off grease. Add cream cheese and mix together, let the cream cheese melt. Use a teaspoon and stuff sausage/cream cheese mixture inside of mushroom after top is removed. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
Enjoy!

Enchiladas

I got this recipe from Amanda's blog awhile ago and we love it.

Honey- Lime Chicken Enchiladas

6 Tablespoons Honey
5 Tablespoons lime juice
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 pound chicken, cooked and shredded (I use 3 small chicken breasts, cooked in the crock pot for 6-8 hours-usually done the day before)
8-10 flour tortillas
1 pound Monterrey jack cheese
16 ounce green enchilada sauce
1 cup sour cream

Mix the first four ingredients and toss with shredded chicken. Let it marinate for at least 1/2 hour (I toss mine together the night before). Pour about 1/2 cup enchilada sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 baking pan. Fill flour tortillas with chicken and shredded cheese, saving about 1 cup of cheese to sprinkle on top of enchiladas. Mix the remaining enchilada sauce with the cream and leftover marinade. Pour sauce on top of the enchiladas and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
They really are good enchiladas!

Nothing Much

Life is moving along right now at a normal pace. We are still waiting on the offer on the house- the bank is just taking it's time...which is fine with us since we still have a place to live right now, but we have no idea where we will go when we have to move. Hopefully something will come up at the right time, and in the same neighborhood would be great.
Our anniversary is coming up in a few weeks, we will probably just go to a movie and lunch or something. Jared is debating on if he should take the day off or not, I am, it is a half day so why not right?
I love listening to General Conference every six months, it gives me the spiritual uplift that I need. It reminds me all that I need to work on.

Melanie's Birthday Weekend!

We started out my birthday on Friday by going to dinner with Jared's Mom & Dad to the Old Spaghetti Factory, afterward Jared and I went and saw "Surrogates".

Saturday was my actual birthday, we got things done around the house in the morning and then in the afternoon we went and met my brother Jeff and his wife Becca in Park City for some shopping at the outlets.
After we shopped for awhile we drove to Heber City where Becca had got us some rooms for the night at the Holiday Inn. We got a room with a king size bed and a hot tub! It was a great room.
We ended up going to eat at the Dairy Keen. Afterward we went back to the hotel and hung out for awhile. Jeff and Becca took Breda swimming for the first time and she loved it, splashing all over the place. She is getting so big!

Today on our way home we drove through Provo Canyon and took so pretty pictures of the leaves and Bridal Veil Falls. It was a fun weekend!!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

We made fresh salsa last night, and I have to say it is really good. I enjoy homemade salsa so much better than the bottled stuff, that will do if there is nothing else though. Hopefully we get more tomatoes so we can make more!

You may have seen this before but I feel it is a good reminder,
something you may want to share with others. I think the big thing for
ladies to remember is you do not have to stop for a policeman in an
area where you would not feel safe. Always go to an area where there
are others to witness what is going on. Also, I think it is true
everywhere now that the police have both red and blue flashing lights,
not just red.

I knew about the red light on cars, but not the *77

It was about 1:00 p..m. In the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to
visit a friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put
his lights on. Lauren's parents have always told her never to pull
over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather to wait
until they get to a gas stat ion, etc.

Lauren had actually listened to her parents' advice, and promptly
called *77 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she
would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher
that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his
rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were
police cars where she was and there weren't, and he told her to keep
driving, remain calm and that he had back up already on the way.

Ten minutes later 4 cop cars surrounded her and the unmarked car
behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded
the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to
the ground. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other
crimes.

I never knew about the *77 Cell Phone Feature, but especially for a
woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car.
Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going to a safe
place.

*Speaking to a service representative at ** Bell ** Mobility
confirmed that *77 was a direct link to State trooper info. So, now
it's your turn to let your friends know about *77..

Jared's Aunt Donna is here from Alaska. When she comes we always make a trip up to Park City so we can take her. Should be a fun day!

Greek Festival 2009

Jared and I went to the Greek Festival, they have such good food. We went today since our Saturday was booked solid, and usually we go with Jeff & Becca but they went yesterday so it was just the two of us. The lines weren't very long at all. We ate the good food, got some desserts and came home. We had a good time and already look forward to next year.

Friday, September 4, 2009

My sister and her family moved to Las Vegas last week. This weekend we are going to go to Mesquite and hang out with them, my Dad and my brother and his family. It should be a fun time in Southern Utah. We are going to get up super early on Saturday morning and hopefully get out of here by 5 a.m., we will drive to Mesquite with a stop in St. George at In-N-Out for lunch. Sunday we are going to Vegas to check out Krista and Trent's new place.

Depeche Mode

Last night we went to the Depeche Mode concert with some of our friends. We started out the night going to Chili's where our friends paid for Jared's birthday- that was a treat! We then went to the concert that was held at the E Center. We had awesome seats- they were the first row off of the floor right by the stage! We enjoyed the concert with most of our favorites being played. I wish they would have played "Somebody" but they didn't. They played for just under two hours, with two encores. We got home around 12:30, so I am sure we were walking zombies at work today! Of course I forgot my camera so these are pictures I found online. We had a great time...and we still love Depeche Mode!

Bryce Canyon

We went this past weekend to Panguitch Lake to stay at my step-dad Joe & my Mom's cabin. While we were there we went to Bryce Canyon, which we had never done before. They had so many neat formations to look at. We had a great time. While we were there it was Joe's birthday- so we had some yummy cake, and a great dinner. Today is Jared's birthday- we are going to his parents tonight for a yummy tri-tip dinner. Happy Birthday Jared! I love you!!

This summer has gone so fast! I am done with my summer job for another year and the school year starts up next Monday. Well- technically school starts the 18th of August but we go back for a week of training.

Jordanelle

Jared took the day off today (which doesn't happen very often) so we went with Jared's parents to Jordanelle. We took their boat- which I have been wanting to go on for years and hadn't yet. We rode the tube for awhile, ate some lunch in the middle of the lake and rode the tube some more. It was a fun day. The wind started to pick up and we decided it was time to head home.

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

My favorite show of the summer is....BIG BROTHER. All the other normal shows are on re-runs which makes this the only show that is new and on. I have watched it for a few summers now, and really it makes me laugh. I don't know how those people could be in a house with complete strangers and not know what is going on in the world, but I watch it anyway -I know, I am pathetic!

Friday, July 24, 2009

Last night we went to Bountiful to watch the parade, and have a BBQ at my brother & sister in-law's house. The parade passes by the bottom of their road, so we parked at their house and walked down. It was HoT, but it was lots of fun. I of course forgot my camera so I am using the one picture of my cute niece Breda, she looks like she is ready to melt! We didn't stay until the end because of the heat and the kids..we went back to Jeff's and started cooking the food. It was fun, hopefully we can do it again next year!

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

I got the cutest purse today, really it is so cute! It has shells that you can change out, which makes it a different purse when you get bored of it. Right now I only have one shell which I got on ebay. So far I am happy with it, but I did just get it today. It is a miche bag.

Friday, July 10, 2009

Not much new going on with us. We went to the temple open house last night, it is beautiful.
Been selling books on ebay- just ones I have had forever and don't plan on reading again. Alot of my hardback ones I am keeping, like my Harry Potter series- I won't give that one up!!
Jared's sister and her family are now in town, we will probably see them quite a bit. Don't know what we will be doing though since we both work during the day.
I went to the dentist last week because my front tooth is bothering me. He thinks the best thing to do is pull them and put in implants, which is very expensive and we aren't sure the insurance we have will cover any of it. Maybe we should have a fundraiser to raise $6,000 so I can get my teeth fixed. It is pretty pricey! BUT it is something we are going to have to do eventually since I need front teeth!
Other than that- life is moving along at a normal pace!

Happy 4th

We hope you have a happy and safe Independence Day! We are so thankful to live in America where we are free. We are going to go watch fireworks tonight at the Riverton park, they have a fun carnival where we can get treats!

Friday, July 3, 2009

I went today to see "My Sister's Keeper" with my Mother-In-Law. It was a good show but very emotional too..bring kleenex if you see it!
I am not sure what we are doing for the 4th of July tomorrow. We have been invited to two places...one a block party on Narin Road with friends & neighbors or to watch the fireworks in Riverton with Jared's parents & their friends! Either way it should be fun!

Thursday, July 2, 2009

My nephew is 5 years old today! Where did those 5 years go? I called him this morning to wish him Happy Birthday and the first thing he said was "Are you getting me a Transformer for my Birthday?" I better get on that!Happy Birthday Trey, we love you!

Smores!

Last night we decided to make smores in our fire pit in the backyard. We our next door neighbors- the Dimonds, Jared's parents & Andy (nephew) and the Faulkners. The Dimonds and Jared's parents were here at the same time. The weather started out pretty good, a few raindrops here and there. Then the rain started to come down and we all rushed inside. They all decided to go home for the night. About 1/2 later the Faulkners came over when it was still raining but the fire was still burning. So we braved the rain and roasted some marshmallows anyway! Eventually the rains stopped and the sky cleared! We had a good time, thanks for coming over! You can kinda see the rain drops on the picture.

Thursday, June 25, 2009

We went and saw the new "Transformers" show last night, it was a bit slow in the middle but overall we liked it. I can't wait for the new Harry Potter to come out in July, maybe I will get my tickets now! We also got to see the trailer for "New Moon" which I have seen before, but seeing it again made me excited! WE love movies, can you tell?

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Not much is going on in our lives right now...still waiting on the house to sell, they have an offer so I guess we see what happens.
I have sold some of my books on Ebay- 6 of them this week...that is kind of fun. I have so many that I don't need or want, and it makes me a little bit of money.
We are going to see the new Transformers movie tomorrow night, that should be good!
Work is going good, I am glad the weather is starting to be normal again, we can actually swim outside which is nice. Other than that nothing else to report on. Life is normal and good.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Today I walked out of my house, into my garage to go to work..and I had a flat! I don't know how to change a flat nor do I know how to drive a stick shift, which was also sitting in our garage. I called Jared and he said "Well your are going to have to change it" and I said "I don't know how" so I will get a lesson on that tonight.

BUT I still had to go to work (which would have been nice if it was the school because I would have hopped on my trusty bike..but it wasn't) so I went next door to our wonderful neighbor and asked her for a HUGE favor. Danielle took me to Jared's parents where I picked up the truck and drove to work and amazingly I made it ON TIME! We have such great neighbors..hopefully we will be able to stick around this neighborhood! Thanks again Danielle, you are a life saver!

Park City

We went up to Park City yesterday to do a little bit of shopping. We decided that we would go up through Provo Canyon for a change of scene. It was so pretty that way. We stopped in Heber at the Dairy Keen for some burgers and onion rings, it was yummy! At the outlets Jared found some shoes at Nike - the same pair he has had the last 4 times, but they fit him good and they were only $20! We stopped at Bath and Body works and stocked up on some hand soap- $60 worth, but half is my Mother-In-Laws...we are set on that for awhile! Jared found him some shorts at Eddie Bauer, which was the reason we went. At Old Navy I found some new capris and a t-shirt. Then we headed to the Croc store...of course I found a pair of cute crocs and Jared found him a new pair as well--which is hard with his size 15's. It was a nice little trip.

On a side note we are trying to decide where to go for our 5th anniversary this fall. We have a few options that we have thought of--Seattle, Las Vegas and now we have added Park City..where to go?

Friday, June 12, 2009

Maybe this is just what I needed to hear, but for some reason it really got to me.

Mesquite

This weekend we went to see my Dad in Mesquite. We started out early Friday morning and stopped in Beaver for breakfast and the cheese factory...have to have my cheese! Then we went to St. George to visit the outlet malls where we didn't find a thing! (well I found a swimsuit at Ross but that is going back) after shopping we went to eat at...In-N-Out...of course! We then made our way to Mesquite to my Dad's house, that night we went to a buffet at the Virgin River, which was pretty good. Later on we went to see "Land of the Lost" which was really, really dumb! I guess I kinda expected it to be dumb being that it is a Will Ferrell movie. Saturday we decided that we were going to go to Las Vegas. While we were there we went to Trader Joes and stocked up on some stuff like Lime Aid...love that stuff!
Jared found a Outlet Mall in Vegas that we decided to go too. They had tons of stores like a Nike Outlet, where I found another swimsuit (which is why the Ross one is going back) and Jared found some clothes. Saturday night we went to dinner with my Dad, Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Frank...and then to the casino to donate some money to the community! We are going home today with a stop in St. George for lunch at In-N-Out...I don't know what will happen when that place comes to American Fork..I am afraid we won't eat anywhere else! It was a fun trip!

Camping

We went camping this past weekend, to a place we had never been before. It was out past 5 mile, in the west desert, but there were trees all over..so not what I picture for the west desert. We had the privilege of staying in the motorhome with Jared's parents, which meant we had a bed to sleep in, air conditioning when it got hot, a dvd player to watch movies (the satellite signal never came in) and I got a hot shower on Saturday! IT was a fun trip. We took the four-wheelers and Polly's jeep, we took those out on Saturday for a nice ride. I started in the jeep with Polly but ended up on the bike behind Jared, which is why we only have one helmet! Jared's parents friends went with us, which made it fun! We had a nice campfire last night and stayed up late talking and roasting marshmallows. That is my idea of roughing it!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Jared came home yesterday and he brought me a present, a brand new lap-top. He thinks it is a good gift for me...and I totally agree! I have been talking (well thinking) about going back to school, now he isn't going to leave me alone until I actually do. I am scared, but I think it is something that will be helpful to me..now I just need to not be a chicken and actually do it!

Saturday, May 23, 2009

Not really much to report on, it turns out I had to have surgery for the pregnancy, my Dr. gave me some pills to take that did nothing for me. The surgery was done on Wednesday. I stayed at Jared's parents during the day so I was not disturbed by people walking thorough our house. I am still in some pain but today I seem to be moving around a lot better, I guess 3 days and nights of sleeping probably helped! Jared has been great, getting me things and helping me do stuff. Surgery was not the road I wanted to go down but it had to be done, and now hopefully everything will heal up as it should.

We are having a fish fry today at Jared's parents house. His Dad Jerl caught a bunch of fish while they were on their trip to Oklahoma. Of course we will also have tri-tip and chicken for the non-fish lovers. Should be lots of good food and fun, something I need for sure!

Monday, May 18, 2009

Yep, our house is up for sale!
As much as we don't want to move, we need to. If anyone knows of rental houses out there (especially in the same neighborhood) please let us know! It will be hard to leave this house, and this great neighborhood where we have made so many friends, but it is something we have to do.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

I have mixed feelings on whether I should share this or not...we thought we got great news about 7 weeks ago, okay wonderful news of being pregant! Long story short, there is no longer a pregnancy.
I went into the Dr. today to have a follow up ultra-sound after one 14 days ago, when everything seemed to be progressing fine. Now it isn't.
I just have so many mixed emotions about the whole thing. I makes me wonder why there are so many out there that can get pregant so easily or are un-wed parents who don't really want a baby, and they get pregant and everything is fine--and then there is Jared and I who want a baby so bad to have it taken away. I recieved a wonderful blessing from our neighbor tonight after we got home of comfort. I know that my Father in Heaven is so aware of how I feel, that this is such a struggle for me because it is something I want to happen so bad, I just need to take comfort in knowing that He knows my pain and eventually I will be able to have the family that I want.

Strange Dreams

I have been having some very odd dreams lately. One night I woke up and I was standing up looking at the T.V., last night was even more bizarre. I was totally asleep when I hear Jared yelling at me. It turns out I was kneeling over him, hitting him with my pillow. I woke him up from a dead sleep. He says I was yelling something about "the cat" - which we don't have a cat. I can remember doing something with my pillow but I thought I was sweeping it across the bottom of the bed, apparently not! After he woke me up, I talked to him for a minute and fell right back asleep. I didn't find out until he was getting ready for work that I was actually hitting him with my pillow. I have never had dreams where I actually do something, Jared says I do mumble sometimes but he never understands me. It was one crazy night, more so for him I guess! I just hope he continues to sleep in the same bed as me.

What is that?

Last night we were home doing nothing- Jared was watching the Jazz game and I was on the computer- when we hear this weird noise in the backyard. I can hear Jared banging on the window and the dog going crazy, so I go out and see this thing hanging on my back porch light. It was black, we had no idea what it was, thought it was a raccoon so we bring in Missy just in case and the animal finally drops after us banging on the window. It turns out it was a cat, that we had never seen before. Jared decides if we let Missy out the cat will run, so we do, and the cat stays and takes a swipe at our dog, which of course makes my Husband MAD! So he goes and gets his BB Gun and takes a shot at the cat. Did this make the cat run? Nope, it just hissed at Jared! We thought it ran away after that so we are out talking to Clint - our neighbor- who heard the ruckus, and we start to hear some noises behind the BBQ...so we look and the cat is hiding out. Jared slams the BBQ up next to the dog house and we call Animal Control...so Jared waits with a flashlight on the back porch for Animal Control to arrive. He was calling this thing "Satan's Cat" by this time, it hadn't moved since he pushed the BBQ. When they arrive they have a cage and they try for a few minutes to be nice and get it out, it doesn't want to come, so they put their little thing around its neck and gently put it in the cage. As it turns out there are tags on the cat, so it belongs to someone, we hope it doesn't return because Jared knows where his gun is, and not his BB Gun!

Glitter Toes

Last night was my Girls Night Out. We all got "glitter toes". I guess it is the latest thing, there is a layer of gel, followed by glitter and then more gel. It is suppose to last for 6 to 8 weeks. They look so cute and sparkle in the sunlight! I know I am such a girl...it was a fun night! There were so many colors to choose from it was a hard decision, they sure look cute! Don't mind my ugly scars on my toes..not much I can do about that.

Aquarium

Today I went with Krista, Treyton & Braelyn to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy. We had a good time looking at all of the fish. I touched one of the sting rays but Trey wanted nothing to do with it, but he really enjoyed watching the sharks. Braelyn just wanted to run around all over, she wanted nothing to do with her little stroller.

Happy Easter

This was truly my favorite talk from General Conference last weekend. It is what I believe to be true. It is a wonderful talk on Easter, and it was too good not to share.

Spring Break begins!

Spring Break begins --today! I have a week off from work, so I think I will be doing the usual Spring cleaning things like cleaning my carpets and baseboards. I hope one day I can meet up with my sister and do something fun with her and my nephew and niece. This weekend is the annual Egg Dive at the pool and my niece will be blessed on Easter Sunday.

Pizza Dough

This is my sister in law Jennie's recipe, we like it. And it is very easy to make.

In my bread maker I add:

1 cup warm water
1 T yeast
1 T. vegetable oil
1 t. salt
3 cups flour

It will make a cookie sheet size. I use the dough option on my bread maker, I have doubled the recipe before and made two cookie sheets and it turned out good. I am guessing you could mix it all by hand in a bowl, if you try that let me know if it works! Hope you enjoy!

The other night something came up about our ages. I said to Jared "You will be 35 this year?" and he said "I can't believe you don't know how old I am!" I know he is 4 years older than me, and since I am 30...WAIT I am 31. How could I forget my age? I must be getting too old to remember! I have been telling people that I am 30 when I am actually a year older than that. Getting old is no fun!

Twilight for Girls Night

Last night was my Girls Night Out, but we stayed in..at my house. We watched "Twilight" and got pizza (which my wonderful husband stopped and picked up for us) & goodies. We had fun just chatting for awhile and eventually we put the movie on. A few of the girls hadn't seen it, and I am sure they thought it was really dumb but for some reason I like it (even if it is cheesy), I know the book is better but I enjoy the movie too! It is one movie that Jared actually let me buy on blue ray..we only have a few.
I would say it was a fun night, can't wait until next month!

No more texting!

I no longer have texting or the the internet on my phone. It is a long story so I will try to keep it short. I was using my phone alot because we had no internet in our house for a short period of time. I didn't realize (or I forgot) that I only had so much kilobits (or whatever that is) on my phone for the internet. So Jared got the bill today and about had a heart attack..lucky for me he was at work and couldn't kill me right away, but I did get a phone call. I am sure the guys at work got an ear full of him being not too happy with me. So he called and got the internet and texting taken off of my phone and will pay the bill and let me live. So now my phone is for plain old phone calls! Thanks for loving me even when I do dumb things like that!

My baby sister has a birthday tomorrow, yes folks it is St. Patrick's Day. So I just want to wish her a very Happy Birthday! I am grateful to have you as my sister and thank you for being one of my best friends, it was hard to believe that would happen as we were growing up (with you bugging my friends-which little sisters do)-but now that we are older I can see how important you are to me, here is to many more birthdays to come...I love you! Happy Birthday!

50 reasons-

Jazz game

Jared got free tickets last night to the Jazz game. We sat in the upper deck 10 rows up, not the best seats we have had but not the worst either. The Jazz played horrible the 1st half and came back and won the Nuggets. We had a fun time.
Today we went to the mall and used a gift card that I got from work for Christmas. I found me a "Korver" jersey, it is pretty awesome and next time we go to the game I can wear it. Jared also decided he needed a "Williams" jersey to match his "Boozer" one, except this one is blue. Now we just need more free tickets!

We don't have the internet at our house right now, we are switching providers. So I will update again when that gets fixed! Not really a whole lot to tell you about right now anyway, life is the same old boring stuff!

Valentines Day!

I have nothing really exciting to blog about this week...so I will just update you on the lives of Jared & Melanie.
Valentines came and went! We decided that we wouldn't get anything for each other this year because we had a great trip to Disneyland, and our dinner at the Blue Bayou was our present to each other. We did have Steve & Susie over for dinner and we made yummy homemade pizza. Jennie (Jared's sister) gave me a great recipe for homemade dough that is so good (if you want the recipe let me know), afterward we watched "Transformers".
I have this nasty cold so Sunday I felt like staying home from church which we did, we then went to Jared's parents to watch the NBA All-Star game even though none of our Utah Jazz players were in it! I had Monday off and stayed on the couch most of the day because of my cold...hopefully it will go away soon!

A new niece!

We got a sweet new baby niece on Monday. My brother Jeff & his wife Becca had a baby girl..and I was able to make it home from our trip. She is so cute with her little double chin & chubby cheeks. She weighed almost 11 pounds! I can't believe that she came out of her Mama. Congrats to Jeff and Becca and welcome to this crazy world Breda--we love you!

Disneyland

Friday January 30th and drove to Mesquite to stay overnight at my Dad's.

On Saturday we got up and drove to California, when we got there we went to Downtown Disney and met up with our friends Tyler & Marilyn for some dinner at the ESPN Zone.

Sunday we had our first day at Disneyland with Tyler & Marilyn. We went to lunch at the Blue Bayou restaurant that you can see when you are riding the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Jared and I stayed until the park closed at 11:00.

Monday we went to Disneyland for our second day. The park stayed open until 8:00 that night be were so pretty tired by 6:00 and called it a night. We got out the GPS and found us an In-N-Out for dinner, and a Trader Joes for stuff to bring back.

Tuesday we went to Santa Monica Pier, Malibu and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was a once a lifetime trip. I guess I was expecting more on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but it was in a rundown area and kind of scary..Jared laughed at me when I would get jumpy. We did pass through Bel Air and UCLA. We also went and had lunch at Knotts Berry Farm, yummy stuff!

Wednesday we went to Disneyland for our 3rd day, my favorite ride in California Adventure was the "Toy Story" ride, it was awesome! If you are going to Disneyland soon make sure you go on that one!

Thursday we went to eat at Johnny Rockets and then we wanted to go to a open air mall that we could get to from the bus. We waited at Disneyland for the bus for like an hour..this mall was suppose to have this really cool surf shop, which was gone! We then had to wait for another hour to get back to the our hotel...and it was raining! I had to buy an umbrella at Old Navy. It was an experience! Jared's parents made us a great dinner of Tri-tip that night.

Friday we had our final day at Disneyland. AND once again it was raining. We both bought some ponchos so we stayed kind of dry. Small World opened up this day and that was fun to ride and see the new things they had added. We stayed for a few hours and then went back to the hotel to dry out. For lunch we went to eat at the "Claim Jumper" where Jared got this huge sandwich..I wish I had a picture of how big it was. We then went back to Disneyland for a few hours and saw the "Aladdin" show for the 2nd time, went on Small World again and made it back to our room around 8:00.

Saturday we drove a day in the rain to get to Mesquite and then went to a great dinner at the buffet with my Dad.

We had a great trip! It was fun to be able to take our time at Disneyland and not rush around trying to get on everything in one day. Jared thinks next time we should just go for three days..that might be a few years!~

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Last night was my monthly Girls Night Out. We went to Cafe Rio for dinner and then went bowling. It was a different game of bowling..you could bowl normal for your first turn and if you didn't get a strike you had to do certain things such as turn around three times, bowl with your eyes closed, hop on one foot, wear a tiara, bowl between your legs, wear oven mitts..I am sure we were quite the sight for others to see. It was a fun time even if none of us even got over 100.

Tomorrow we are going on vacation! We are headed to sunny California for a week. It should be good times. We are driving to my Dad's in Mesquite on Friday night and then driving to California on Saturday. Jared's Mom & Dad have a time share that we are staying at. We will go to Disneyland and hang out in the warm weather (we hope!).

We have such great neighbors...really we do..they just had a baby and I was called on Friday to take them dinner on Saturday. I had Jared give them a call yesterday to make sure on the time and to see what they had the night before so I didn't take them the same thing. They invited us over to eat with them..and they just had a baby! After yesterday and the basement flooding again it was a nice little break. They are such awesome people..we went and got us pizza & breadsticks and hung out and chatted with them! Thanks a bunch Dimonds...you guys are truly awesome!

Rain, Rain go away!

This may very well be the reason we don't finish our basement. Last year it happened in a different window..can you say crappy builders! The water is coming in from the sides of the window well. Hopefully today Jared and his Dad will be able to get some of the mud out of there so the water has somewhere to drain. At least not a lot got ruined..maybe just the insulation right by that window. Pray for the rain to stop!
