A Wonderful Prophet

We were sad to hear last night about the passing of our Prophet President Gordon B. Hinckley. It actually came as a shock because we had not heard anything about him even being sick. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by millions around the world. It was interesting living in Utah, when the news finally got out that was all we were able to find to watch. Channel 2 reporters broke in with the news and kept it there the rest of the night..what a great tribute to such a loved man. We will miss him but I can't help but think about the glorious reunion he had with his dear wife who left this earth 4 years ago. We love you President Hinckley!

Tosca & Girls Night

Last night I went to the Opera "Tosca". I went with my sister Krista and one of her friends from work. The only problem for me was finding a parking place in downtown SLC. That was a joke! Of course I had no cash on me and so I had to drive around looking for a place with a meter to park (because I had change) and after 5:30 or 6:00 parking is free. I never carry cash but maybe for this occasion I should have brought some. I drove around for 1/2 hour looking for a spot. Finally I found one about a block away! Then I met my Jeff, Krista and her friend at Olive Garden for dinner. That place is so good. Afterwards we went across the street to watch "Tosca. The Opera was in Italian with subtitles (which I have to say did not thrill me at first! I didn't want to have to read what I was watching) but after it got started I really enjoyed it. One of the only reasons I attended was because Becca and Jeff were in it. Becca was in the first act as a little choir boy--we were able to pick her out pretty fast. Jeff actually had a pretty big role! He was one of the policemen in every single act! It was fun to watch him when he came on stage trying to be all serious. Becca got us awesome seats so we could see everything up close. Overall I have to say that the Opera was great! We had a fun night.

Thursday night was our Monthly Girls Night Out. What we do depends on what the person in charge for that month decides(I am in charge in August so if anyone has any ideas let me know). So for January we went to Christa's house to play some games. We started out the night playing "Scene It Friends"- I thought I would be pretty good at this game since I love the show, boy was I wrong! Alicia killed us! She loves the show even more than I do.
.
Next we played "Apples to Apples" this was a fun game too. I wanted this game for Christmas (and I didn't get it-now I might have to go and buy it). We had a fun time with this game, trying to get the other people to choose our cards. I only ended up with three and lost again! The last game we played was "Catch Phrase" where you have to describe something to your teammates. I realize that I was not very good at this game either! I had to keep on passing on the things or I would say part of the answer and start laughing! Overall the night was so much fun. It was fun to just laugh and talk too! WE had a great time.

Friday Night Hockey

Last night we went to see the Utah Grizzlies play hockey at the E Center. It is pretty fun to go to those games. The year we got married for Christmas Jared got some season tickets from his parents for the games. It was fun to go but I got sick of going every single weekend! He would probably like to go more often then we do but we go to a few games every year. They won the game 6-5 with a fight in the 3rd period. The fights on the ice are great, not that I would want to see them off the ice! Jared is going to go to the game next Friday too..I am going to see Jeff and Becca (my brother and sister in law) perform in the Opera "Tosca" at Capital Theater.

I love to see the Temple

Jared's parents were sealed in the temple today. It was a great experience for the family. His Dad has been a member for many years but was never really active until they moved to Utah 3 years ago. Jerl made some friends in their new ward in Utah and started going to church. He started going Home Teaching and attending the activities and meeting more and more ward members who became friends. He took the Temple Prep classes with Polly (who has been a member and has always been very active in the church). Jerl was ordained an Elder back in November and they decided that he would go through the temple and be sealed. Jared's sister Jennie and her husband Josh flew up from Cabo to go to the temple with them.It was a great experience going through the Endowment session and then sealing Jared's parents sealed.
It is just amazing to me how good examples all around us help us get back on the right path.

I didn't want to know!

We went to Jared's parents on Sunday night for dinner. As we were sitting around after we got done Jared's Mom pulls out this article about Roserita Beach where we had gone on Vacation last month. We were wondering why there weren't alot of tourists around our resort. In this article it told about all of these car jackings, people being held at gunpoint and about the corrupt police, so alot of people with trips planned there had canceled their vacations. I am glad that I found this out after our trip, I would have been so scared to go knowing that was going on! I am also glad that we were watched over and protected. It is good that we made it home safe.

Finally a new car!

So we finally found a new vehicle. Jared really wanted a Jeep Wrangler..but then he decided he didn't want to pay that much. For months now he has been searching through the weekly Auto Traders..he could find nothing. Then when it snowed he decided that he need 4 wheel drive because driving the car in the snow is not fun at all! After we got back from Mexico he started looking at Toyota Tacomas, we went to a bunch of dealerships on Tuesday (they are sharks I tell you..jumping at you as soon as you pull onto the lot!). And once again he couldn't find anything. When he went to work on Wednesday he saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee that looked pretty nice, when he went to ask about it he was told someone was coming to look at it. He told the salesman that if the people didn't buy it then he wanted it. So now--we have a white '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I really like it, and Jared does too. It has all of the "bells and whistles" as Jared says. Hopefully this one will stay around for awhile!

Sorry!

I am not sure what I did last night to my blog..I tried to add something from another blog and then I couldn't get back into my blog. I freaked out and started another blog...so sorry for all of the emails! And then I went to bed and as I was laying there I figured out how to get back in so at midnight I got up and fixed the problem! So that is the story..sorry again for freaking out when there was an easy problem to fix!

3 movies in 4 days

On Saturday night we went and saw "National Treasure..Book of Secrets" with Polly & Jerl (Jared's parents). That was a good movie. I am not a huge Nicholas Cage fan but I liked him in the first National Treasure.
On New Years Eve during the day Polly and I decided we wanted to go and see "Enchanted". This was a good day because Jared had to work all day and I had the day off. This was a really cute movie! I really enjoyed it, but it is a girl movie for sure. There were quite a few men in there and I told Jared they must be boyfriends! That night we just stayed home and made homemade pizza and watched tv. I was surprised that we both made it until midnight!
Then today is New Years Day. We got up around 10..went to lunch at with Jared's Mom and Dad again, then we went to see "I am Legend". I thought this one was a little bit scary but Jared didn't think so. I think it would be awful to be the only human alive! It was also pretty good, but I like Will Smith so I enjoyed it. I saw three movies that I actually liked this weekend!
This is the end of my Christmas Break..that sure went by fast (and I even had an extra week with our vacation!)It is back to work tomorrow!
