Park City

Yesterday we decided that we would go to Park City and do a little bit of shopping. I am always complaining to Jared that I have no clothes for work so he bought me quite a few new things. We went to Nike- where Jared was looking for shoes but couldn't find any..15's are hard to find, but I did find a pair that I liked. At Old Navy I got 3 new pairs of Capri's and a few new shirts. We got some good deals at Eddie Bauer as well. After shopping we decided that we would go to Main Street in Park City for dinner at the Red Banjo Pizza place..the pizza is really good there. They had Main Street blocked off- which we weren't aware of going up there- for a Mustang Car Show, all of Main Street was lined with Mustangs. This was probably the highlight of Jared's day. It was fun looking at some of the cool cars. We had a good time with Jared's Aunt Donna who is here visiting from Alaska. There were a lot of people in Park City yesterday..I think it was because of the Car Show and Swiss Days in Midway but even with all of the people we had a good time!

Fresh Veggies!

My In-Laws have such an awesome garden. They always have more produce then they know what to do with..which is great for us. This year we have had tons of cucumbers fresh from the garden which I love! They are so good that way. We also decided that we would make fresh salsa with all of the tomatoes. My Mom is going to come out in a few weeks and help me can some for the winter months, which won't be as good because it won't be fresh but better than store bought stuff. One of the reasons I love summer is because of the fresh veggies...and we sure have had a lot of them! Next summer Jared said he would make planter boxes for our back porch so I can try and grow some veggies too...that should be fun!

Another New car!

Yesterday night we had our Back to School night. Before we actually had the thing at the school all of the Teachers & TA's were treated to dinner. During dinner one of the other TA's was asking if I had any kids. I said just one and he will be 35 years old in a few weeks. Here is the reason why I said that. My husband is the biggest kid you know..I am guessing that most men are always like kids and they never grow out of it. A week or so ago he let me know when he got home from work that there was a car on the lot of his work that he was interested in. I thought "HMM..okay" because this happens often working at a car dealership. So on Wednesday he calls to tell me that he got a loan for the car and we were trading in our Jeep. He came home with the car on Wednesday night and took our Jeep in on Thursday.Anyway, he got a 2 door Nissan 350Z that is bright blue in ..another odd thing for my husband who prefers white or white (which isn't exactly true since my car is gray). AND the car is a manual which I don't even know how to drive yet but he promises to teach me! He knows that my car is here to stay..so he better not trade that one in too!

Jennie's visit

Not much is really going on in our lives. We have been busy doing stuff with Jennie and the kids..they go home tomorrow morning. It has been fun having them here and doing stuff together Jennie and I went on Saturday and got pedicures, went to lunch @ Scone Cutter (we always go there when Jennie comes..no one else will go with me), and to Quilted Bear..we had a really good time. I am sure they are so ready to go home, they have been gone since the first part of July. They have gone and done some really fun things while they have been here.

We have also been watching the Olympics. It has been so neat to watch and see how talented the athletes are! It is just amazing to me some of the stuff that they can do. We were watching the other night when they had the Men's 4x100m swimming team finals. We screamed so loud when they won I am surprised our neighbors didn't hear us! I stayed up way too late last night watching to see if the Men's Gymnastics team got a medal (they won the Bronze)..I just wish I had a talent like these people do! It is truly amazing!

Today was my last day of my summer job. It was pretty fun working "Super Seekers", we went on some very cool field trips such as Energy Solutions Areana, Zoo, Kennecott, Sweets Candy Company, Gateway, swimming twice a week! It was fun to see all of those neat places. I can't believe that I start back to school on Monday- where did the summer go?

Camping Evacuation!

Jared's parents ward was having their ward camp out yesterday at Payson Lake. We decided that we would go because we haven't gone camping yet this summer, and Jennie and the kids are still here and they were all going as well. We got up to the campground around 1:30 and set up our tent. We sat around for awhile and talked.Jared, Jerl (his Dad) and the kids decided they wanted to go fishing. They were gone for awhile and when they got back we ate dinner. They had Karaoke and a movie over at the group fire pit..which we went to a little bit of. It was fun hanging out and just relaxing. Around midnight these boys from the ward came up to the motor home and told us that our campsite was being evacuated because there was a huge fire in Payson Canyon close to Payson Lake. SO everyone in the camp got up and started loading up everything to head out.
The fire wasn't that close to us so we had time to get all of our stuff sorta packed up...some just got thrown in the back of the Jeep. We got out of there around
1:00 am and headed for Nephi..since Payson Canyon was closed. We ended up taking a back road that dropped us off in Santaquin. As we came down the mountain and hit the freeway we could see some flames ..mostly embers..from the fire. I found these next two pictures online of what the fire looked like.

We made it home a little bit after 2:00 am. Jared's parents were a little bit later because they had to take the road down to Nephi. When they got home they just pulled in the driveway and slept in the motor home. I am sure the kids were all a bit surprised to be home..since they all slept during the drive home. I am just grateful that we had to time get out of there and everyone made it home safe!
